莫文蔚的〈艾美麗愛美麗〉是跟聲音有關、有意識的word play實驗。她寫這首曲子的時候demo叫Emily，說希望歌名是人名。Emily音譯成中文可以是「艾美麗」或「艾蜜麗」或「愛美麗」，我選了「艾美麗」，然後我發現在聲音上，「艾美麗」是 “ai mei li” 和「愛美麗」是一樣的，但「愛美麗」可以理解為一句片語，不單是人名，就是「喜愛美麗」，這樣我覺得很有故事。 “ai mei li”如果不管聲調，漢語拼音還可以是「曖昧裡」或「愛魅力」，都是片語，所以我就寫下「Emily 曖昧裡／想像的愛終於也無人認領／艾美麗 喔 愛美麗／但太美麗 你又懷疑不真實」。然後 “ai mei li” 也很像法文的 “Amelie”，也就是Emily的法文版，我又寫了「Emily 喔 愛開始／總是想你值得更好的結局／Amelie 喔 愛魅力／容易亢奮的心下落不明／艾美麗 喔 唉美麗／你說美麗 到底是什麼把戲」
“ai mei li”的聲音在歌詞裡面不斷重複出現，有時候是不同的人名，有時候是有意思的片語，非常好玩，而那麼多不同寫法的但其實意思是近似的名字，我想到的是人生是不是「用不同的名字／演差不多故事／我和你 認不認識 也類似」？
